Renovations set to begin on AREA building
Sometime after March 10, the AREA office in Montgomery will undergo major renovations, which will affect some of the operations at the building.
The front lobby, boardroom, conference rooms, kitchen and restrooms will all be renovated. The association will also replace outdated audio-visual equipment in the boardroom, which should benefit both classes and meetings.
Training classes will be moved to various off-site locations, including local hotels and meeting rooms at Central Alabama EC and Dixie EC. Board meetings may also need to be relocated. Access to and operations at the Alabama Rural Electric Credit Union will be unaffected.
Bailey Harris is the general contractor for the project. The company is currently working with Covington EC and Pea River EC on construction projects, and also built the facilities at both Dixie and Central.
The work is expected to take about 90 days. This is the first renovation at the Technacenter Drive building since it was built in 1993.
