This AREA department provides overall support in the day-to-day activities of the Association. Services in this department include, but are not limited to, financial affairs, human resources, and the coordination of the purchasing and inventorying of supplies and equipment.
This department also is responsible for maintaining the building and grounds of AREA’s headquarters building and training facility in Montgomery.
In addition, administrative services employees administer the Association’s workers’ compensation pool (Alabama Rural Electric Cooperative Self Insured Pool), the Association’s health benefits plan (Electric Cooperative Health Benefit Plan) , the Association’s foundation (Electric Cooperative Foundation) and the political action committee (Alabama ACRE).
In 2013, the Association continued to make improvements to its board/training rooms including the purchase of microphone extensions in the large conference room. Also the dishwasher and ice machine was replaced in the kitchen as well as the much requested water fountain in the main hall.
The Wellness Program that was started in 2012 to promote healthy choices by the employees of the Association continued with great employee participation. Quarterly assessments and challenges were performed.
