Young ALFA staffers learn about electric cooperatives

AREA was pleased to welcome Rebecca Oliver, Caleb Hicks and Marlee Moore from the Alabama Farmers Federation, who stopped by as part of an informal tour of groups and associations that have similar rural or cooperative interests.

Moore, who is now a full-time agricultural communications specialist with ALFA, was a participant in the Washington Youth Tour in 2011, representing Clarke-Washington EMC. Oliver and Hicks are interns at ALFA.

The group met with AREA president Fred Braswell and other staffers to get a better understanding of what our rural electric cooperatives do and the services they provide. Also with the group was Debra Davis, who is the publications director for the Alabama Farmers Federation.
